EAGLE STAFFS GATHERING

As part of the Three Fires Confederacy Gathering, we will be welcoming Eagle Staffs from throughout Anishinaabeg territory.

This annual gathering was envisioned by Garden River elder Doris Boissoneau, who has dedicated her life's work to language preservation and cultural revitalization.

“This gathering is to honour our Eagle Staffs in Unity. The Staffs represent the honouring of our past, present and our future as Anishinaabeg. The Eagle Staffs represents a celebration of our strength in maintaining our language and culture. As the Eagle Staffs and people gather, we take a stand for unity,” said Doris Boissoneau.

The 2006 Gathering of the Eagle Staffs took place September 23, and 24th 2006 at the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians in Michigan. Approximately 200 visiting guests and 23 Eagle Staffs were in attendance.
